Saving Space With ADU Appliances

Building an ADU is all about how you can efficiently use your space. It would not make sense to put full-size appliances into a small additional dwelling unit. That is why we have put together a few ADU appliances for you to consider using to save space.

Murphy Beds Save Floor Space

When most people think of Murphy beds, they think of old springy mattresses that they see in movies and associate them with low quality. However, there are a plethora of high-quality murphy beds available that can save you space in your bedroom without compromising on your style.

Some come with storage on either side of the bed or even a couch that folds out when the bed is folded up. This allows you to more freely walk around your bedroom throughout the day without having to buy a small bed.

Wall Mounted Fold Down Table

Having a dining room in an ADU is probably not very practical. However, you still need a place to eat your food that is not the couch. Having a dining table in your ADU can take up a lot of foot space though.

To solve this problem, you can use a wall-mounted fold-down table. This table folds up to save foot space but can be dropped down when you need it. You can also consider a drop-leaf table that has extendable ends to make the table larger when you need it to be.

Space Saving Laundry Appliances

Washers and dryers tend to take up a lot of space in any type of home. Due to this, many people make the ADU mistake of not including laundry in their designs. Doing so is completely unnecessary and causes a hassle for whoever lives in the ADU.

To solve this problem, you can get a 2 -in-1 washer and dryer combo that can fit neatly in any corner, closet, or floor space. This unique appliance washes and dries your clothes in one compact unit, saving you time, space, and money.

Your other option is to get a stackable washer and dryer. They allow you to still have bigger appliances that hold more laundry while taking up less floor space.
