NEET stands for National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test. It is a national level common entrance exam which is conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) for admission to medical colleges in India. The students who wish to study undergraduate medical courses like MBBS, BDS, BAMS, BHMS, etc., have to appear and pass the NEET.

NEET is of two types; NEET-UG and NEET-PG. NEET-UG is for the students who wish to study undergraduate medical courses like MBBS, BDS, and NEET-PG is for the medical graduates who want to study postgraduate medical courses like MD and MS.

NEET has replaced the All India Pre Medical Test (AIPMT) and the other medical entrance exams conducted by the states or individual colleges. It has saved the time, energy, and money of the students as earlier they had to fill different forms for different medical entrance exams in India. However, some renowned medical colleges like AIIMS, JIPMER, and PGIMER are still conducting their own medical entrance exams as these are established under separate laws.

NEET UG:

NEET UG (NEET undergraduate) examination was held for the first time on 5 May 2013. The NEET-UG 2019 was held on 5 May, in a single session, and an offline mode (pen and paper) as usual. Its duration was 3 hours, and it had multiple-choice questions. The medium was English, Hindi, and many other regional languages like Tamil, Telugu, Oriya, etc.

The paper had three sections: Physics with 45 questions, Chemistry with 45 questions, and Biology (Botany and Zoology) with 90 questions. So, there were a total of 180 questions, and as each question was of four marks, the exam was of 720 marks. For each correct answer, the candidate would get 4 marks, and for each wrong answer, 1 mark (25%) will be deducted. The result was declared on its official site on 5 June 2019.

NEET-UG Eligibility Criteria:

The candidates who have passed the 12th class with physics, chemistry, and biology and have attained the age of 17 years are eligible for NEET-UG.
The upper regulation is 25 years for General category. It is relaxed by a period of five years for SC, ST, and OBC categories.

NEET PG:

NEET Postgraduate Examination, which is also known as the Common Entrance Test (CET), and is intended for admission to post-graduate medical courses offered by various medical institutes or colleges in India.

NEET PG 2018 exam was conducted in online mode (computer-based mode). The duration of the exam was 3 hours 30 minutes. The question paper was divided into three sections: Part A with 50 questions, Part B with 100 questions, and Part C with 150 questions. It was conducted on a single day and in a single session. The language of the question paper was English.

NEET-PG Eligibility Criteria:

The Eligibility for NEET PG 2019 was as follows:

• The candidate must possess an MBBS degree or Provisional MBBS Passing Certificate recognized by the Medical Council of India (MCI).
• The candidate must have the permanent or provisional registration certificate of MBBS issued by the Medical Council of India (MCI) or State Medical Council (SMC). In 2019
• NEET PG exam, the candidates are required to carry the MCI/SMC registration certificate at the exam center on the day of the exam.
• The applicant must have completed a minimum of a one-year internship or should complete it on or before 31 March 2019.
