If you are looking for the very best Mexican food then you have come to the right place. I love Mexico and the South-east of the country (I live in Texas) so when I thought I could locate some great food I set out to see what I could find. After a lot of searching, I think I have found the very best Mexican Food in Austin , Texas. But I would like to point out that I am not a chef or food cook. I am just a regular guy who loves Mexican food and enjoys trying new things.
The best Mexican Food is made by using fresh ingredients and preparing the food as best as you can. We love making Mexican food and friends and family are always amazed at our delicious fare. This means fresh tortillas, cactus and chilli’s.
How do you make fresh tortillas?
You simply place a rolled tortilla into a microwaveable aluminum container and heat in the microwave for exactly two minutes on each side. When the tortilla is done you simply lift it out of the microwave and add it to salads, warm soups and make them into tortilla sandwiches. Fresh tortillas can also be added to soups or even chili.
Are cactus and chilli’s something you have never tried?
I don’t think so. They are much loved by Mexican-American and many other people all over the world. I know some people who actually grow cactus plants and sell them, you can get wonderful fresh tasting seeds at garden centers, and they make great Mexican coffee. I personally grew up with my mom growing those great dried habanera peppers.
What about chilli’s?
I have had my share of excellent Mexican chilli’s from Guadalajara, Mexico, and in Belize. These chillis are usually spiced and offer a hint of mild spiciness to them. There are some stores where you can buy them already prepared, but you can also just make them at home if you prefer. I really enjoy the slightly thicker taste of these dried habanera peppers, which is not a common occurrence when I go shopping for this favorite product.
Have you ever tried fajitas?
I have, and they are very tasty! Usually served with fresh tortilla chips and black beans, fajitas can also be served with enchiladas or with pinto beans. These are very filling and satisfying meals that will stay in your mouth for a while.
You may have never thought about flan, but if you have never had it, you are missing out! A traditional flan is made from wheat flour and water and is seasoned with salt before being made into cakes. These cakes are great for any occasion and can be used in a variety of foods. For example, you can fry them up with vegetables or use them as an open-faced sandwich. Flan is typically served as a dessert after dinner, so I definitely recommend giving it a try sometime during your week.
Lastly, how would you rank your local grocery store’s recipes?
The options are almost unlimited. However, I have found the frozen options to be the best tasting and most nutritious. If you’re looking for a healthy yet tasty snack, consider making your own frozen tortillas and baking your own salsa. Not only is this the most delicious way to enjoy a tortilla, it is also very healthy.
Now that you have the three most important ingredients, it is time to start planning out some of your favorite Mexican food recipes. It is recommended that you make a list of what you plan to put in your meals before you begin cooking. Then, once you have your list, you can type it into any search engine and generate a wealth of different recipes. There are a plethora of sites online dedicated to Mexican dishes, and I highly recommend that you check them out.
One of my personal favorites is chimichanga. This dish is filled with vegetables and meat, wrapped in a banana leaf, and served with sour cream and cilantro. If you haven’t tried chimichanga, you are missing out on one of the most authentic dishes you can create. The best way to prepare this dish is to use fresh tomatoes, onions, cilantro, and fresh chili peppers. Of course, you can always substitute any items mentioned above. You can also choose to make your own chimichanga sauce by adding different kinds of peppers, spices, and other seasonings to your own chopper.
The final step is simply to get out your food processor and create some delicious Mexican food for your family and guests. It is best to serve these recipes immediately, or at least four hours ahead of time to let them soak in their flavors. Most Mexican food recipes are usually topped with tortilla chips, so feel free to include those as well. A meal such as this can easily feed an entire family and will keep them happy all day long!
